The Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka had called for a probe into the incident where a 12-year-old child was administered with a Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine in the Chilaw area, Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) Director Dr Ranjith Batuwanthudawa said yesterday.
They have inoculated a child without the approval of the Health Ministry and following wide attention in media led to probe sources said to Lankasara.
Dt Batuwanthudawe said that necessary action would be taken against the officers concerned, after receiving the report of the investigation.
According to the health sources Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, State ministers Dr Sudarshani Fernandopulle and Prof Channa Jayasumana too have concerned about this incident and have urged the official to do not let such incidents happen again.
So far no policy decision has been taken to vaccinate those below 12.
