Seven persons identified as Covid 19 patients from Divulapitiya had been taken in two ambulances to the Polgolla Covid treatment center yesterday (17) only to be turned back due to unavailability of beds.
According to sources 10 Covid patients in total had been sent to the center yesterday from the Gampaha District.
However on arrival treatment center administration had said they were unable to admit more patients as they had run out of space.
Due to the Covid situation the patients taken there had not been allowed to leave the ambulance and had been forced to remain inside for hours till a solution was reached. However they had then been forced to leave after being turned back by the hospital.
The patients had remained inside the ambulance without food, water or sanitary facilities for hours. As of last night the patients had not been told where they will now be referred.
