Opposition Leader goes to Abhayaramaya to meet Ven. Murutthettuwe Ananda Thera

Oppsition leader Sajith Premadasa today visited the Chief Incumbent of the Narahenpita Sri Abhayarama Purana Viharaya, the Chief Prelate of the Western Province, Ven. Murutthettuwe Ananda Nayaka Thera to inquire about his well being. 

The Thera instructed the Leader of the Opposition on dhamma practices pertaining to the economic, social and political processes of the country and Premadasa briefed the Thera on the current situation in the country.

He also drew the attention of the Thera to the ways that can uplift the lives of the people disrupted due to Covid and also the issues caused by the 20th amendment to the Constitution. 

The Leader of the Opposition said that he had taken a tough decision regarding the people who voted for the 20th Amendment and that he did not approve of the political process of shifting allegiances. 

The Leader of the Opposition said that he had drawn the attention of the government in Parliament to the lifting of the US travel ban on Army Commander Shavendra Silva, adding that a similar ban had been imposed on former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka as well. 

The Thera recalled the late President Ranasinghe Premadasa and urged the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa to follow in his footsteps and serve the country.
