O’level examination postponed

Prof. G.L Peiris, Minister of Education says that the GCE Ordinary Level examination cannot be held on the scheduled date.

The Minister said in Parliament today that the new date for the examination will be announced six weeks in advance.Earlier it was decided to hold the examination from January 18 to 27.

Speaking at a meeting yesterday (30), the Minister said that under the current situation, about 50% of schools do not have Grade 11 teaching activities and there is a problem regarding holding the examination on the scheduled date.

The Minister said yesterday (30) that the final decision will be taken today or tomorrow after discussions with the heads of all relevant sectors in this regard.

Accordingly, the Minister said in Parliament today that it had been decided to postpone the GCE Ordinary Level Examination.
