Notorious underworld criminal Kanchipani Imran has been released on bail.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela today (20) ordered that he be released on bail after meeting the bail conditions.
The court has ordered the release of this suspect on bail in relation to an incident where he allegedly threatened a Keselwatta police officer over the phone.
Cases against the suspect were pending in four courts of the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court related to the killings and death threats and the suspect was granted bail in all those cases.
After being arrested by the local police while attending the birthday party of the daughter of underworld activist Madush Makandure, this suspect was remanded in custody after being deported to Sri Lanka.
According to police sources, the suspect, who had been in remand custody for over two years, left the court today after getting bail on the 20th after being disguised.
