The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Aviation has extended for the 5th time the period for calling for proposals from local and foreign investors for the sale of Sri Lankan Airlines.
These calls for Expressions of Interest (EOI), which have been extended until the 6th of next month, started last December. After that, the period was extended on four occasions.
Industry sources said that although some parties reached certain proposals they haven’t agreed with the selling conditions of the government.
The Airport Employees’ Union says that there is a call for interest from local and foreign investors for the sale of Sri Lankan Airlines, unprecedented flight delays, reporting of those incidents with great pomp, and rejection of proposals made by the airline to develop and maintain the airline.

They say that it was evident in the recent discussion between the minister and the airport workers that there is no need for the minister to listen to others’ views.
