The government has not yet taken any policy decision regarding the terms or conditions for easing the ban on vehicle imports and the Governor of the Central Bank has only made comments on this matter, Media Minister Dullas Alahapperuma told the Cabinet at a media briefing held this morning (28).
The answer given by the Minister to a question raised by a journalist regarding the relaxation of vehicle import restrictions is as follows.
“The ban on vehicle imports is still in effect. It should be noted that the Government has not yet taken any decision on the terms or conditions for its liftingග The Governor of Central bank recently expressed his ideas on hypothesis but that will not come to in effect soon. However, I would like to emphasize that the Government will not take any decision in this regard until 10.45 am on Monday the 28th.
