A new step towards providing clean and safe drinking water to the people of Jaffna has been initiated with the launch of a new sea water purification project in the Vadamarachi Talayadi area.
The project’s primary objective is to convert sea water into high-quality, potable fresh water. It is anticipated that around 70,000 families in Jaffna will benefit from this initiative.
The project, overseen by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, comes with a substantial investment of 400 million US dollars. This ambitious effort aims to address the pressing need for accessible and clean drinking water in the region.
The sea water purification project is slated to be completed within the first quarter of the upcoming year. Once operational, it is set to provide the residents of Jaffna with a reliable and sustainable source of clean drinking water.
