Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Finance said today (23) that a new budget with appropriate proposals will be considered next month to adapt to the current crisis. The Minister stated this today at All Party Conference held in President’s House Colombo and he further said that a new budget could be presented if the Cabinet approves it.
Speaking further the Minister of Finance said that the government is aware of the plight of the people of the country and in the face of this situation it has a program to provide relief to the people in the future. He said that already Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena involves in activities of providing concessions specially during up coming festive season.
Mr. Basil Rajapaksa also stated that various parties have come up with various proposals regarding the course of action to be taken by the government in the face of the current crisis.
He told the All-Party Conference that the focus was on a suitable financial advisor for the work of the International Monetary Fund and future debt restructuring, and that no suitable individuals could be found in the country.
