SHARP, a local organization engaged in a humanitarian demining operation in the Mullaitivu province since 2016, has cleared 24,065 mines alone, its project manager told Lankasara.
Capt. Prabhath Narampanawa, project manager of the shop organization, said that the mines had been removed only from the Pachchilaipalli and Oddusudan areas.
He also said that demining operations in Pallai Ambagamam and several other areas in Kilinochchi have been very successful during this period.
After handing over 360 acres of demined land in the North to government officials, the officials have taken steps to hand over to the farmers for farming activities this season.
