Angoda Lokka was not poisoned : Indian CID

Sri Lankan underworld figure Maddumage Lasantha Chandana Perera alias Angoda Lokka had died of a heart attack in Coimbatore the Indian CB – CID has said. The investigators have as a result ruled out any foul play. The latest findings are based on the post-mortem, chemical examination, and histopathology reports.

Indian media has reported the Inspector General of Police, CB-CID as saying that the three reports did not have any findings related to an unnatural death.

According to the initial statement given by a Sri Lankan woman named Amani Thanji, who had lived with Angoda Lokka in a rented house at Balaji Nagar near Cheran Ma Nagar in Coimbatore, he suffered chest pain on the night of July 3 and was declared dead by doctors of a private hospital. Angoda Lokka had lived in Coimbatore under the alias Pradeep Singh for around two years.

He had obtained an Aadhaar card in the name of Pradeep Singh with the help of two persons D. Sivakamasundari, a lawyer from Madurai, and her friend S. Dyaneswaran from Erode.

Sivakamasundari, Dyaneswaran, and Thanji were later arrested for the death of Angoda Lokka while the two former suspects were also charged with forging documents.
