The Navy says the number of trawlers forcibly entering the North Sea from India has dropped significantly this week as the Navy tightens security in the North Sea.
The Navy was tasked with minimizing the arrival of Indian trawlers to prevent any corona patients from entering Sri Lankan seas along with fishermen from India.
The Navy has tightened security in the North Sea more than ever before, restricting the number of Indian vessels entering the North via Rameswaram, India, and increasing patrols, especially at night.
Accordingly, a very small number of vessels have reached the northern seas this week from Rameswaram Dhanuskodi, Wahakotte, and Tuticorin in India.
