Amila Ratnayake, the National Organizer of the All Ceylon Nurses Association, has announced a nationwide protest scheduled for the 22nd of this month at 11:30 am, in front of all hospitals across the country.
During a special media meeting in Ambanpola, Ratnayake stated that the protest campaign is organized to address several critical issues, including the demand to halt the importation of potentially harmful substandard drugs, find solutions to shortages of pharmaceutical equipment and testing materials, and address the shortage of healthcare personnel while providing adequate incentives to those currently working in the healthcare sector.
The campaign is supported by several healthcare associations, including the All Ceylon Medical Officers Association, All Ceylon Health Care Association, All Ceylon Hospital Overseers Association, All Ceylon Ward Clerk Service Association, All Ceylon Telephone Operators Association, and All Ceylon Family Health Service Officers Association. Ratnayake emphasized that this protest marks the initial step in addressing these pressing concerns within the healthcare system.
