The National Audit Office has reported that an amount of 187 million rupees has been underpaid to beneficiaries on the Samurdhi waiting list under the Food Security and Livelihood Recovery Emergency Assistance Project.
According to the project’s terms, beneficiaries on the Samurdhi waiting list were supposed to receive Rs. 5000 per person. However, the audit report reveals that in the months of September and October 2022, some people were paid 4700 and 3000 rupees, respectively.
The total underpayments to the beneficiaries amount to 187 million rupees, as per the findings in the audit report. The National Audit Office recommends that the sanctioned amount should be paid to rectify the underpayments.
