The Opposition has rejected the call by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to attend Parliamentary proceedings tomorrow (24).

The Opposition says that holding Parliamentary proceedings without any plan to overcome the current crisis will further burden the people.

Opposition groups called for a boycott of Parliamentary proceedings based on the premise that “the only solution is to dissolve parliament and form a stable government.”

The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), led by the National People’s Force (NPF), has also decided to boycott Parliament for a week.

The Prime Minister yesterday (22) invited the Opposition to change their decision and come to Parliament on Friday.

When asked by Lankasara if they would accept the Prime Minister’s invitation and participate in the proceedings on Friday, the opposition sources stated that there would be no change in their decision to boycott the Parliament proceedings.

On enquiry made by Lankasara, the National Organizer of the Samagi Jana Balawega, Tissa Attanayake, said despite the adjournment of Parliament for a week due to fuel shortage, the Prime Minister has become a clown, supplying jokes to the country by asking the Opposition to come to Parliament.

He added that the Prime Minister was trying to deceive the people by inviting the Opposition to come to Parliament and that his party was not prepared to accept the Prime Minister’s request.
