Kandy District Coordinating Committee Chairman and Member of Parliament, Gunathilaka Rajapaksa, along with his two security officers, faced an ordeal when an elevator malfunctioned at the Kandy District Secretariat.
The incident occurred while they were en route to the Coordinating Committee office during People’s Day. The elevator breakdown trapped them for nearly 30 minutes. Despite the malfunctioning emergency notification button, police officers and workers on-site successfully assisted in their release.
