A minor earthquake struck the village of Dewahandiya in the Ditwah-hit Ududumbara area of the Kandy District at around 5.05 p.m. today (08).
The tremor measured 2.2 on the Richter scale.
Residents in the areas of Mandulla, Kalawala, Mahawala, Udapitawala, Themandiya, and Papukanda reported feeling the tremor.
However, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau said that as this was a minor tremor, the public should not be unduly alarmed.
