The Ministry of Health has launched a special investigation into Dr Jayavaruwan Bandara, Secretary to the Medical Practitioners Alliance on Medical and Civil Rights.
Already the president of the association, Dr Chamal Sanjeeva, has been suspended for exposing issues relating to malnutrition issues in Hambantota.
On inquiry, Dr Chamal Sanjeeva stated that it is very likely that Dr Jayaruwan Bandara will be the next in line to be victimised after him.
Dr Chamal Sanjeeva said that he had not yet received the letter informing him about his interdiction from the Ministry. He would promptly initiate the necessary legal proceedings as soon as he received the same.
Internal sources in the health sector reveal that special investigations have also been initiated at the ministerial level in relation to Ravi Kumudesh, president of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists, and Upul Rohana, president of the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association.
