Ministers are asked to devote more time to Parliamentary matters.

The ruling party has informed all the ministers of a directive from President Ranil Wickremesinghe that all cabinet ministers and state ministers should stay in parliament from 9 am to 5 pm on the days parliamentary sessions are held.

Also, the President has made it mandatory for all the parliamentary representatives of the ruling party to remain in Parliament on the day of a parliamentary vote.

It has also been informed that the chairpersons of the district coordinating committees must devote their entire time from 9 am to 5.30 pm to the resolution of public problems in their respective districts.

The absence of responsible ministers in Parliament to answer questions is the primary reason for this decision.
