As crude oil ship is scheduled to reach Sri Lanka on the 13th of this month , Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara hopes that the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will be resumed at least by the 15th of August. Accordingly, it is expected to supply Kerosene continuously from the 19th of theis month the Minister said in Parliament.
However, the minister Kanchana said that the oil cannot be supplied at the subsidized price of 87 rupees and there will definitely be a price revision for this, while replying to a question asked by Samagi Janabalawega MP Hector Appuhami.
Speaking further, the minister revealed that there is a dire need for kerosene especially for industries including fishing, plantations and that the kerosene given to them on subsidies in the past has been fraudulently mixed with diesel for use in private buses.
