The Minister of Public Security Vijitha Herath has called a special discussion this afternoon to discuss about decision to be taken regarding the security of dignitaries including former presidents.
News First reported that Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya mentioned that the said discussion will be held in the Ministry under the leadership of Public Security Minister Vijitha Herath.
Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya, who visited the media last Saturday after paying his homage to Sri Dalanda Maligawa, said that there is a shortage of police officers countrywide.
Weerasooriya said that as an answer to the shortage, the officers who have been employed in other duties until now will be employed in the public service correctly and to prevent crimes.
