Police say that all suspects involved in the murder of young businessman Srijith Jayashan from Katuneriya, Marawila, have been arrested.
The deceased, 31-year-old Srijith Jayashan, was a successful entrepreneur and the owner of Jayanthi Tyre House in Marawila. He was murdered by a person he considered his best friend. Four suspects, including the main suspect, have been arrested. All those involved in this murder were people whom Srijith considered his friends.
His body was found yesterday in a concrete-covered pit used to collect vehicle washing waste near a vehicle service station in the Lunuwila area of Udasirigama.
The murder came to light after his mother filed a complaint with the police, stating that Srijith had been missing since the 30th. His friends also posted advertisements on social media stating that he was missing along with his luxury cab and requested information from the public.
During investigations, police received information that the cab was parked at the house of Srijith’s closest friend in Wennappuwa. The police recovered the cab from the suspect’s residence, arrested him, and during questioning, he confessed to the crime.
According to the suspect, the murder took place during a party in Lunuwila, Udasirigama. An argument broke out during the drinking party, after which he killed Srijith with sharp weapons. The suspect, along with other friends present at the party, dumped the body into a garbage pit at the vehicle service station.
