Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court Rejects Bail for Keheliya Rambukwella

And Six Others in Immunoglobulin Vaccine Scandal

The Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court today (14) ordered to reject the bail requests of seven suspects, including former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, who was arrested and remanded on suspicion of misusing government funds in the purchase of substandard Immunoglobulin antibody vaccines.

Accordingly, it was stated in the bail order issued by Maligakanda Magistrate Lochani Abeywickrama that the concerned suspects will be remanded under the Public Property Act until the trial is over.

Announcing the bail order, the magistrate stated that the court accepts that the charges leveled against these suspects are related to the Public Property Act.

When a Public Property Act suspect is brought to court and remanded in custody, the Magistrate stated that it is essential to submit special facts for him to be released on bail.
