Anuradhapura Operations Chief, Major General Mohan Ratnayake was arrested by the Kekirawa Police this morning in connection with the assault on wildlife officers, police spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He was arrested when he appeared at the Kekirawa Police this morning. The arrested Major General was produced before the Kekirawa Magistrate’s Court, the spokesman said.
He said that wildlife officials as well as the Major General had lodged complaints regarding the incident and that they were investigating the complaints of both parties.
Maj. Gen. Mohan Ratnayake had said that he would return to the police today voluntarily considering the damage done to the reputation of the army in connection with this incident.
