Namal Rajapaksa says that Mahinda Rajapaksa brought in 58 lakhs of the votes received by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in the last presidential election and that Gotabhaya had only managed to gather 800,000 votes to win the presidential election.
He had mentioned this in a program telecast on Swarnavahini last night.
However, he pointed out that people today do not vote just because the candidates come from a political family. Instead, he said that the activities of each politician contribute to it, adding that it does not matter whether the son gets the vote because of the father or the son gets the vote because of the uncle.
