Lasantha Alagiyawanna, State Minister for Consumer Affairs told Lankasara that samples of the relevant gas cylinders will be sent to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) laboratory and to a private lab today (26) for testing on the composition of LP gas cylinders used in the country.
The Minister of State further stated that these gas samples have been taken by the Consumer Affairs Authority from the two relevant gas companies and accordingly they will be sent for testing today.
He said the move was aimed at scientifically investigating allegations that the two Sri Lankan gas companies had changed their composition in the wake of recent incidents involving domestic gas cylinder explosions.
The State Minister further stated that steps are being taken to register qualified laboratories to test the composition and quality of this gas to the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board.
