Chairman of the local agent company of the ship X Press Pearl, Arjuna Hettiarachchi been released on Rs. 100,000 cash bail and two sureties of Rs. 100,000 each following the arre4rst and produced to the High courts.
He was arrested this morning after surrendering to the CID through his lawyers in connection with the Express Pearl ship incident. Colombo High Court Judge Damith Thotawatte further ordered that one of the two hostages should not be a close relative of the suspect.
The judge ordered that the suspect’s passport be handed over to the court and that his passport be banned. The order also directed the Controller of Immigration and Emigration to refrain from issuing a new passport to the suspect and to inform airports and all ports.
