A 22-year-old student of Kilinochchi University, Subaraja Eshilnath, hanged himself and passed away while playing a video game that involved engaging in deadly and terrifying actions, yesterday (15). It has been revealed that the nature of the game required him to face various challenges and carry out instructed actions, ultimately leading to his fear and tragic decision to end his own life.

This incident follows a similar occurrence seven months ago, when a student from a school in Jaffna jumped from a building after being immersed in a similar video game, resulting in injuries.

The nature of those video games is to move forward by facing the various challenges that are given to them and engaging in those actions.

Subaraja Eshilnath, who resided in the Pannai area of Jaffna, was the sole child in his family. He tragically took his own life while playing the video game alone at home, having confided in his friends about his distress prior to the incident.
