A group of civilians in Jaffna today (04) held a parade in the Jaffna town to celebrate the National Independence Day. The parade had been organized by the Jaffna-based Civil Society Centre for Jaffna, led by Arul Siddahartan, a social service activist. He is also affiliated with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP). State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara was also seen attending the event.
Crowds were seen displaying the Sri Lankan national flag while banner-carrying youth on motorbikes, women, school children also attended the event.
