Veteran artiste Jackson Anthony’s daughter, Madhavee Wathsala Anthony, her husband Chandimal’s mother and six others have been arrested today for allegedly attending the birthday party of beautician Chandimal Jayasinghe.
Among those arrested were three women and three men.
They are due to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today. According to the information received, another suspect is to be arrested.
Quarantine activities regarding the arrested suspects will be carried out by the health officers in charge of the area. Earlier, 15 persons were arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail.
Accordingly, the number of arrests made in connection with the party has increased to 21.
The inquiry is into allegations that the birthday party was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo in the middle of the night on the 30th at a time when strict travel restrictions and quarantine laws were being strictly enforced.
