Moves are afoot to bring the deposed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa back to the saddle as the Prime Minister SLPP sources said.
The former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had to step down from the premiership amid virulent protests by the masses.
According to SLPP sources, a group of parliamentarians, including Johnston Fernando, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, and Sanath Nishantha, had proposed that Mahinda Rajapaksa be made prime minister again, while another group had opposed it, depending on the situation in the country, which they felt was not conducive for such an appointment.
However, Mahinda Rajapaksa has informed both relevant groups that he is ready to take a decision if everyone comes together and makes such a proposal as the Sri Lanka Podujana Jana Peramuna.
