The Wellawatta police have initiated an investigation into a suspicious male corpse that was discovered on Wellawatta beach today (05) morning. The deceased individual has been identified as Sarvananda Thirusanth, a 28-year-old resident of Jaffna.
The police received a phone call alerting them to the presence of the body. Upon examination, red bruise marks were observed on the deceased. In response to this discovery, a magisterial investigation has been launched, with Acting Magistrate Ratna Gamage overseeing the proceedings.
To further investigate the case, a team of officers has been appointed, including Police Inspector Rangana De Silva, Station Commander of the Various Complaints Division of the Wellawatta Police, Chief Police Inspector Prasad De Silva, Police Inspector Jayaraj, and Colombo South Crime Scene Investigation Officers.
