An inmate held in Kalutara prison has been attacked and killed. The inmate, identified as 46-year-old Sunil from Karavitha, Molkawa, reportedly died early today (26) at Kalutara Nagoda Teaching Hospital.
Sources reveal that Sunil had been admitted to Kalutara Nagoda Hospital on Sunday (24) night following an assault. Despite receiving treatment in Ward No. 5, he passed away due to his injuries this morning.
The prison authorities have informed Kalutara North Police about the incident, triggering a special investigation. Kalutara Division crime scene laboratory officers are actively participating in the ongoing investigations.
The circumstances surrounding the assault and the individuals involved are likely to be revealed as the police and prison authorities conduct thorough examinations and inquiries.
