Though the Sri Lankan government had requested its Indian counterparts to support it against the UNHRC resolution against it, India has not yet responded to this request.

One week ago, the Sri Lankan government sent a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to support Sri Lanka. However, India has not yet responded to the letter, top government sources said.

Meanwhile, members of the Geneva Human Rights Council Cuba, China, Russia, Nepal and Venezuela have offered their support to Sri Lanka.

Tamil Nadu DMK and Pro-LTTE political parties, including party leader Stalin, have called on Prime Minister Modi to refrain from supporting Sri Lanka.
