Peter Breuerit, the IMF Senior Mission Chief for Sri Lanka, has announced that there is currently no specific time frame for the disbursement of the second tranche of the extended credit facility approved by the IMF.
Breuerit emphasized that the release of the second tranche hinges on two crucial factors: sustainable reforms and progress in addressing the debt-related process.
In addition, an IMF delegation recently concluded its visit to Sri Lanka. The delegation, led by Peter Brewer and Katsiarina Swiridzenka, acknowledged that while there are early signs of stability in the country, full economic recovery remains uncertain.
The team commended Sri Lanka for its progress in implementing challenging yet essential reforms. Ongoing discussions and advancements in the government’s plans for revenue collection targets, anti-corruption initiatives, and other critical structural reforms were also noted during the visit.
