Dr Saman Kumara, consultant Neonatologist of Castle Street Hospital for Women and the president of the Perinatal Society of Sri lanka thanks to the Sri Lankans living all over the world who rapidly responded to supply much needed ET tubes for newborn babies. He says that he got an immense response to provide instruments with thousands of reference calls to his personal mobile number.
Noting in social media Dr. Saman Kumara says
” I need to tell you something regarding this voice message. I did not mean to make a social media campaign at all but just sent it to whatsapp group of my batch mates. But some one tag my name and Mobile number to it and shared and it’s gone viral. I am getting calls from all over the world and answered nearly 500 day and night and there were more than 400 missed calls and the situation is the same today. I am a busy consultant looking after very sick babies and I am sorry I cannot handle this volume of calls and messages. I know some are angry with me for not responding but I am a human being and was up till 3am responding to messages. I know you all are trying to help the country and I cant imagine the super high level of your commitment.
I am so proud of all of you and i never thought Sri Lankan blood is so kind and I am lost for words to explain it.
We have been promised to provide adequate amount of ET tubes from you all from all over the world within 24hrs. So please do not bother further about ET tubes but we have some more major issues. We are launching few web sites soon by the college of paeditrician and Perinatal society where you can further help the country. We will share details soon. Once again my sincere apologies for not responding to every call and message and thank you so much for helping our mother Land at this critical moment. තෙරුවන් සරණයි. God bless you.
