It has been revealed that the Homagama Police has obtained water from a National Water Supply and Drainage Board line illegally for 10 years. The board has now taken steps to halt the supply after the recent revelation.
According to reports, the special raids division of the Water Board had visited the Police after a tip off giving information about the unauthorized water supply connection. The Police used to have four supply lines out of which three lines had later been disconnected. However it has been revealed that the Police had reconnected one of the lines and had obtained water from it illegally without payment for at least a decade.
The loss incurred by the board as a result has been estimated to around Rs. 1.5 Million. The National Water Supply and Drainage Board are carrying out further investigations into the incident.
