The Ministry of Public Security has transferred Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Presidential Security Division Nimal Perera immediately. The transfer comes in the wake of Hirunika Premachandra sneaking into the premises of the President’s House without anybody’s knowledge.

Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Kurunegala District Anil Priyantha is the replacement.

Police sources said a group, including Hirunika Premachandra, has gone in front of the President’s House, bypassing all security checkpoints.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the President’s Security Division is at the receving of the weaknesses of the security arrangement.

They say the crowd, including Hirunika, could bypass the security barriers due to a lapse in the security arrangement.
