The Department of Meteorology forecasts intermittent showers or thunderstorms in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Rainfall exceeding 75 mm is expected in some parts of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, along with the Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts.
The North-Central province, along with the Mannar and Hambantota districts, may experience occasional showers.
Wind speeds of around 50 km/h are likely at times in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, and along the western slopes of the central hills. Other areas of the island could see fairly strong winds ranging from 30 to 40 km/h.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of damage caused by sudden strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
