A special discussion will be held today (15) with the participation of Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and senior officials of the Ministry and medical experts regarding the vaccination of school children an official for the Ministry of Health told Lankasara.
According to him, the decision to vaccinate school children was likely to be taken at this discussion today.
Health Ministry seeks the opinions expressed by experts on whether children over 12 years of age should be vaccinated or children over 5 years of age should be vaccinated, and on which of these age groups should be vaccinated first and when vaccination should begin. The spokesperson said that the type of vaccine given will also be taken into consideration.
People between the ages of 20 and 29 are currently being vaccinated, with 36.2% receiving the first dose and 12.3% receiving both doses. According to Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, 13,553,534 people have received the first dose and 10,762,627 people have received the second dose.
