Honoring the Supreme Court order the government will release withheld allocated funds for the Local Government elections, State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said on Saturday (4).
He further said that stated, appropriate steps will be taken at the Supreme Court’s direction.
Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court issued an interim order on Friday to the Finance Secretary, and the Attorney General preventing them from withholding any funds allocated by the 2023 Budget for the Local Government Poll 2023. The Supre Court further issued an interim order on the Government Printer to preventing from any funds allocated for ballot paper printing.
