The Minister of Ports, Navigation, and Aviation Services, Nimal Siripala de Silva, announced today (06) in Parliament that the government has made a decision to decrease the aircraft landing fees at Katunayake Airport by 50 percent for a period of up to one year.
During his speech, the minister also mentioned that this decision has been communicated to the airlines operating at the airport.
He further explained that a plan has been devised to attract more planes to Mattala Airport, whereby 100 percent of the fees will be waived in the first year and 50 percent in the second year.
The Minister assured that the necessary orders pertaining to this decision will be presented to the House.
Nimal Siripala de Silva made these statements during the debate on orders under the Civil Aviation Act.
