Government MP group meeting heats with Ranil Basil clash !

The group meeting of the governing party held today (30) was heated due to the division of MPs into whether or not to implement the 21st amendment to the constitution.

The group meeting was chaired by the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, was heated today due to clashes between a group led by Basil Rajapaksa and a group led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who called for the 21st amendment not to be tabled.

A group of PA MPs including Diana Gamage, Dilum Amunugama, Sarath Weerasekera, Wimalaweera Dissanayake, Prasanna Ranaweera and Chinthaka Mayadunna have argued that the 21st Amendment should not be implemented, while Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa, Prof. Charitha Herath and Harin Fernando and few others were in a position that the group should do in favor of bringing 21.

On this occasion, President Gotabhaya Rajapakse has taken a neutral stance sources said.

If there are any comments or suggestions made by the Members of Parliament regarding the 21st Amendment, they have been asked to submit them before next Thursday.
