Former president Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and his team, who had recently left this country for Dubai with the hope of going to Los Angeles, USA, returned this morning a little while ago. According to airport sources, the former president, who arrived on Emirates flight EK 605, exited through the VIP terminal.
It is reported that Mrs. Ayoma Rajapaksa, Private Secretary Sugeeshwara Bandara, and another person have come with Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and the President’s son Manoj Rajapaksa, his wife, and child who accompanied him did not come.
It is reported that Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, who went to Dubai on December 25, reapplied for a visa to go to Los Angeles, America, and there was a delay in granting him that visa. On his way to Dubai, he tried to get the diplomatic privileges he could get from the state of Dubai, where his request to use the special guest lounge at Dubai International Airport without paying was rejected by the Dubai authorities, according to political sources.
The former president, who stayed in a hotel in Dubai and rested, has returned to Sri Lanka today.
