Udayanga Weeratunga, a former ambassador to Russia and a close relative of the Rajapaksa family, says that former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has now entered into a political phase where he is working against Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Udayanga Weeratunga claims that a group led by Professor G. L. Peiris, who recently left the SLPP, met with former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and that they were clearly working against Mahinda Rajapaksa.
In an interview with journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrama’s Truth with Chamuditha YouTube channel, Weeratunga stated that it was Gotabhaya Rajapaksa who destroyed the hopes of 6.9 million people in the country.
Udayanga Weeratunga said that he (Gotabaya) was very angry with him (Udyanga) because he was dwelling on old stories and said that he was under a lot of stress and it was not suitable for him to stay here. The best thing is to try and go back to America.
“I don’t need to say much. Even elder brother Mahinda has said recently that Gotabaya effectively blocked him more than even Chandrika did. ” The whole country knows how Chandrika interfered with Mahinda. Brother Gota became an even bigger obstacle. Udayanga Weeratunga said.
Udayanga Weeratunga mentioned that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa went to Thailand from Singapore in a private jet and there were people who paid for it. He has yet to find out who spent the money on the private jet but said that the head of the Sri Lankan media organisation who had a close affinity to Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has footed up all the bills in Singapore.
