The Gandara OIC has been arrested today (25). He has been arrested by the Matara SSP’s office in connection with an incident of harassing a apprentice policewoman.
The incident had taken place yesterday and the apprentice police officer who had escaped from the OIC had informed the other officers about this.
He was arrested by a special team from the Matara SSP’s office who acted on the information.
The officer, who had previously been suspended on other charges and returned to work, has been assigned to the Gandara Police amidst the protests of Matara police officers, under a political influence.
The arrested OIC is to be produced before the Magistrate’s Court, according to police sources.
