Dr Jayaruwan Bandara, a popular medical figure, former Media Spokesman of Health Ministry has been infected with Covid, health sources said. Dr Jayaruwan who is currently serving as the Deputy Director of Medical Research Institute Borella, was subjected to a PCR test following some symptoms.
He was a recipient of both doses of Astra Zeneca at the beginning of the vaccination campaign a few months ago.
Meanwhile, the Offices of the Ministry of Industries has been closed following some employees contracted with the virus. As the Minister’s personal security staff members also get contracted, Minister Wimal Weerawansha also asked to home quarantine by the health authorities.
