During a press conference convened last Thursday (10) at the Golden Arms Pavilion of Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Diyawadana Nilame unveiled the names of the fortunate elephants set to grace the Esala Perahera as the Tooth Relic procession this year.
The four elephants selected for this prestigious role are as follows:
Sinha Raja from Sri Dalada Maligawa
Vasana from Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya
Indi Raja from Sri Dalada Maligawa
Kandula from Kelani Raja Maha Vihara
The Diyawadana Nilame further revealed that the majority of temple processions across the nation have drawn to a close, allowing a substantial number of elephants to partake in the upcoming Esala Perahara.
