Former Senior DIG Arrested for DUI and Causing Accident

Remanded Until November 1st

Former Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne, found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a collision involving two vehicles, has been ordered to be remanded until the 1st of next month by Mount Kissa Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 last night (28 when a car with the license plate WP CBG 2057, driven by the former Senior DIG, was traveling from Bambalapitiya to Dehiwala. It collided with a parked WagonR car in front of the Mirage Hotel on Wellawatta Sea Mawatha and a bus, resulting in substantial damage and subsequent arrest.

The Wellawatta Police informed the court that the former senior DIG was noticeably intoxicated during a breathalyzer test conducted at the scene.

Following this revelation, he was presented before the Mt. Magistrate and subsequently remanded. The case is set to be called again on November 1st.
