The house at Ward Place, Colombo 07, where Sri Lanka’s first executive president, JR Jayewardene, spent his entire political career, is in a dilapidated condition.
Vidura Wickramanayaka, State Minister of National Heritage, Performing Arts and Rural Art Promotion visited the house this week on the instructions of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Minister said that this house will be inherited for future generations as a place where many decisions were taken in the political history of Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, steps will be taken to turn this place into a museum and an environmental center on the instructions of the Prime Minister, the Minister of State said.
